A little peek
This weekend, while most people my age were out at bars drinking green beer, I was busy at home preparing for a little housewarming party. Gary and I have lived here for almost six months but have invited hardly any guests over. From Unique LA to unpacking boxes to other various things going on, the last thing on my mind was making this little (and I mean little) apartment our home. So a few weeks ago I brought up the idea of having a small party so I'd have a deadline to get this place in order! I'm very slow and making even the smallest of decisions but having just two weeks to get everything put together forced me to act quickly. All those art prints I've been hoarding because I was looking for the perfect frame now have a home and there are no more ugly packing boxes in sight!
My idea of a great party always includes lots of sweets, most especially a pretty cake as the centerpiece. I've mentioned before that I'm not the best at making cakes. You could even say I'm intimidated by the thought of them. But this weekend I conquered my fear and made a delicious, moist, chocolate cake with neapolitan buttercream. In fact it's taking a lot of willpower not to finish off the slice I had for breakfast (whoops!). I am so pleased with how it came out that I can't wait to make more cakes! Me and cakes, who knew the day would ever come? As soon as I edit my photos I'll share more about what I made for the party.
It was a very small party but we had so, so, much fun. By the end of the night I was filled with so much joy and gratitude for the all our wonderful friends that came over. (I even got a sore throat from talking so much!)
