Since moving into our apartment last year, pizza has been one of our favorite things to make due to our old school stove with a huge flame broiler. No joke, our oven reaches well over 500 degrees (my oven thermometer stops at 550 so I’m not sure the actual temperature). And now that the weather is finally cooling down (it was still in the 90s until last week!) I’m so glad to be turning on that broiler again.

So when I was asked by Hodgson Mill to participate in their “Build A Better Pizza” contest, I immediately said yes! Fifty bloggers will be submitting recipes to their facebook page and everyone will get a chance to vote on their favorite pizza. We were asked to use at least 50% whole wheat flour in our crust, hence the “better pizza” contest name. I’ve already got two recipes up my sleeve (hint: one sweet and one savory!) that I will be sharing in the coming weeks.

In conjunction with the contest, Hodgson Mill has offered a $25 pizza prize pack for readers of Matchbox Kitchen! The winner will receive a bag of whole wheat flour, organic white flour, cornmeal, as well as packets of active dry yeast. Basically everything you need to start pizza/bread making at home!
