For the first time in 4 years I won’t be working the holiday season at a book store, and I have to admit I’m a little sad about that. The last few months of my job I had the pleasure of shelving away books that just came in, meaning I got first look at the newest releases. We were also given the freedom of ordering books we thought might sell well or that a customer might have asked for but didn’t carry. Now that I don’t spend 5 days at a book store I feel a little out of the loop!
For the first time since I quit that job, I quickly perused my local book store. It wasn’t the same one I worked at so the selection/organization was a little sparse
but it was nice to flip through them again. On the very top of my list is the Bouchon Bakery cookbook. Holy guacamole that book is gorgeous! I could spend all day flipping through those pages. I’m hoping that some family members will see this post and know what to get me for Christmas! Ha ha …

I’m in the middle of reading What Katie Ate – GET IT! Such a beautiful book, with some really unique recipes. I also want the Bouchon book, and Jerusalem; I love anything that Yotam Ottolenghi comes up with – one of the things I miss the most about living in London is being able to get cakes, salads and meat pies from Ottolenghi’s in Notting Hill.
I wish I could eat at one of his restaurants! One day.
Ooh, the Bouchon Bakery cookbook looks so good–I really need to get to the NY branch and finally try it! I’ve been eyeing the Edible Selby myself… and have always been curious about Beranbaum as I hear it’s such a classic. I selfishly hope you get lots of these books for Christmas so you can review them and tell us what’s worth investing in!
The bouchon bakery book is so good, I think you’d like it! And yes try it next time you’re in NY! Definitely get a TKO. I’ve actually never looked through the Cake Bible but have heard so many good things about it. I’m sure I’ll be hinting about cookbooks until Christmas day
what a great round up of culinary books! i could so get lost in Bouchon Bakery too and oh man Edible Selby is a looker too.
There’s something so fun about peeking to restaurant kitchens! I always love trying to figure out their tips and tricks through photos.
Have you gotten any of these books yet? I’m dying to know if you got Bouchon and if you can tell me what you think!
I did get the Bouchon book! It’s pretty amazing…will do a review soon!
